The Photoshop action has been tested and working on Photoshop (English version only) CS3,CS4,CS5,CS6,CC+

The After Effects Motion Kit has been tested and working in After Effects CS6.1, CC+. 

If you are not using the English version of Photoshop, you can always change it to English and then back again to your native language using this method below.

PHOTOSHOP WORKFLOW

Please check: 

1. Your photo is in RGB color mode

2. Your photo is in 8bit color mode

3. You are running the English version of Photoshop.

4. If you are experiencing errors, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. To do this,
hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting up Photoshop. 
A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences/settings file.  

5. Avoid using small resolution images. For the best results, use Photos between 
2000px - 4500px high/wide.

1. INSTALLING THE PHOTOSHOP ACTION

1. Inside Photoshop, go to the 'Window' menu and select 'Actions'. A window
will now appear to the right hand side.

2. Inside the Actions window, click on the top right hand corner icon to reveal
the drop down menu. From here select 'Load Actions...'. Select the action which
came with the download.

3. The action will now appear in the actions panel.

2. USING THE PHOTOSHOP ACTION

1. Open a photo to work with

2. Leave the photo layer locked and set as the 'Background'. For instructions on how to
set your photo as the background, please refer to the beginning of the video tutorial.

3. Create a new layer above the background layer called 'brush'. MUST be all lowercase.

4. With the 'brush' layer selected, brush onto the areas of
your photo that you want to apply the effect to.

5. Now play the action

3. EXPORTING From Photoshop

1. Crop your design to HD. Select the Crop tool, change the resolution to 1920x1080 at 72px/in.

2. Inside the Actions window, click on the top right hand corner icon to reveal
the drop down menu. From here select 'Load Actions...'. Select the ‘SandStorm Exporter’ which
came with the download.

3. Run the “***RUN THIS ACTION***” action within the Motion Kit Exporter

4. Within the ‘Export Layers To Files’ dialogue, select a create folder where you want the design to be saved to, such as your desktop. Make sure the File Type is PNG-24, Transparency is checked, Interlaced is unchecked, and Trim Layers is unchecked.

1. Locate the ‘ScriptUI Panels’ folder within After Effects on your computer. 

On a Mac, this will be:
Applications/Adobe After Effects XX/Scripts/ScriptUI Panels

On Windows, this will be:
Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects XX\Scripts/ScriptUI Panels

2. Place the files within the downloaded ‘AE Install Files’ folder in the ScriptUI Panels folder.  

3. Within After Effects, go to Preferences>General and check ‘Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network’. 

4. To access the Motion Kit Panel, go to Window>Sandstorm.jsxbin

5. MOTION KIT OVERVIEW

1. To run the Motion Kit, simply select your desired particle direction, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIHT or MIDDLE.

2. When prompted for composition or folder names, insert a unique name to keep your project files organized. 

3. If using the Photoshop workflow, when prompted for the ‘image-sequence.png’, locate the exported files from your design. Select the FIRST file within the exported layers, and hit ‘Open’. If using the After Effects workflow, when prompted for the ‘image’ locate the image you would like to import. 

NOTE: For CS6.1 users, hitting ‘Caps Lock’ while the Motion Kit is setting up the animations will speed up the process. 

5. When you are ready to render your design, select File>Export>Add to Render Queue. From there, select your export settings such as Quicktime or Windows Media, and hit render. Choose from the two ready-to-render comps, either ‘In/Loop/Out’ which features the full 15 second animation, or ‘Loop’ which features a 5 second infinitely looping video.
